In an upscale neighborhood in Brooklyn, Tuesday was an unusual day. A 20-year-old man became the victim of a shocking shooting incident. The unidentified victim was pursued and attacked near Kent Ave. and South 9th Street, in the heart of Williambsurg, just as the evening was setting in. Eyewitnesses and law enforcement officers report that the incident occurred shortly before 7:40 p.m.
Eyewitness Narrates Terrifying Incident
The quiet, street lined with luxury apartments was not prepared for the chilling incident that was about to unfold. An eyewitness, Alexander Durante, told the Daily News how he saw the horrifying shooting unfold right before his eyes. He was arriving home, parking his vehicle, when the male victim dashed towards his moving car.
“I saw the gentleman get shot down right in front of my vehicle,” Durante recounted the terrifying experience. “The man was facedown and I could see the blood oozing out from his body.”
Victim and Shooter Play Out Chilling Scene
According to police reports, the victim was shot multiple times in the torso, chin and right foot. Despite the heavy injuries, the victim mustered the strength to try to get up, even as the shooter swiftly retreated from the scene.
As Durante narrated further, “The shooter ran down to South 9th St., where a car was on standby for him.” According to eyewitnesses, the escape vehicle had a distinctive loud engine sound, reminiscent of a muscle car, which sped away instantly.
Medical and Law Enforcement Response
Following the shocking incident, the man was immediately taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Despite his severe injuries, doctors expect him to pull through and survive.
As for the law enforcement response, no immediate arrests were made following the incident. Police are still actively investigating the case and are presumably looking for the shooter and the getaway car involved.
