Building Resistance and Stamina

Country music artist, Jelly Roll, is taking strides towards transforming his health and fitness. The singer-songwriter, acknowledged with a Grammy nomination, has turned down the noise of social media and is now preparing himself for long-distance running. He aims to complete a half marathon by fall next year.

“Training for it is an 18-month process,” Jelly Roll said in a recent interview. He revealed his intention to first participate in a couple of 5K runs. He completed his first 5K race at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles on May 7.

Enter Journey: From Struggle to Inspiration

Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, recalled that less than a year ago he could hardly walk a mile. But he managed to complete the recent untimed 2 Bears 5K run, which he admits left him feeling “really, really good” and highly motivated.

The “Son of a Sinner” singer has been quite transparent about his fitness regimen. He often shares snippets of his fitness journey with his Instagram followers, including his morning walks in the woods. As of now, Jelly Roll has reported losing an astonishing 70 pounds.

Online Bullying Leads to Social Media Exit

However, his journey hasn’t been without hurdles. Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie XO, revealed that fat-shaming on social media lead him to leave the platform.

“My husband took a step back from the internet because he grew tired of being bullied about his weight,” she shared on her TikTok account. Her heart-wrenching statement highlighted the harsh judgment her husband faced online, despite his efforts and accomplishments on this transformative journey.

Upcoming Tour and Fan Engagement

Although his retirement from social media may upset fans, they will soon have an opportunity to meet and interact with the singer. Jelly Roll is gearing up for his “Beautifully Broken Tour” that commences this fall. Spanning two months, the tour will travel across various U.S. cities.

With three shows around New York City, fans can catch the “Halfway to Heaven” singer live at Madison Square Garden on September 27, the USB Arena in Elmont, N.Y. on September 28, and finally, at Newark’s Prudential Center on September 29.

Final Words: Strong Will against Bullies

Jelly Roll serves as a prime example of overcoming obstacles and disregard online bullying. His fitness journey and resolve to run a half marathon is a testament to the singer’s determination and spirit. As he embarks on his upcoming tour, he will undoubtedly inspire many with his profound message of personal strength and resilience.
