The Dexter Prequel Announces New Additions to its Diverse Cast

The Dexter universe is about to expand. Details of the new cast members of the eagerly awaited ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ prequel series have just been announced. Hollywood giants Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson will join the cast. They’re set to breathe life into the younger renditions of our beloved Dexter characters.

Casting Details Unveiled

Christina Milian, popular for her prolific career in music and film, will embrace the role of Maria LaGuerta. This character is known as Miami Metro’s pioneer female homicide investigator. The character was formerly portrayed by Lauren Velez in the original series.

James Martinez, known for his roles in ‘House of Cards’ and ‘One Day at a Time’, will enact the role of Angel Batista. This young, flourishing detective was originally interpreted by actor David Zayas.

On the other hand, Alex Shimizu will carry the charm of the often-humorous forensic analyst Vince Masuka. This role was famously brought to life by actor C.S. Lee. Meanwhile, Reno Wilson, recognized for his work in ‘Good Girls’, will take on the character of Bobby Watt. He played an integral yet unseen role in the original series as Dexter’s adoptive father’s partner.

Welcome to the Known and New Characters

These fresh faces will join Patrick Gibson, slated to embody young Dexter. Christian Slater will portray Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father. Molly Brown will depict Debra Morgan, the younger version of Dexter’s sister.

Inside ‘Dexter: Original Sin’

This intriguing series is set in 1991 Miami and chronicles Dexter’s transformation from a student to a proto-serial killer. Under his father Harry’s guidance, Dexter harnesses his murderous urges into a unique code. This code persuades him to target only those escaping justice.

High Hopes for the Series

Clyde Phillips, who previously acted as the showrunner for the initial four Dexter seasons and ‘Dexter: New Blood’, leads this franchise extension. Dexter fans anticipate how young Dexter, formerly portrayed by Michael C. Hall, adapts to the intern environment at Miami Metro Police Department.

Expanding Horizon for the Dexter Franchise

Fans can take delight in knowing that ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ will debut its anticipated 10-episode first season on Paramount+ and Showtime. The much-loved ‘Dexter: New Blood’ will also continue its brilliant run on Showtime, with a heavy focus on Dexter’s son, Harrison.

Spinoffs delving into the history of iconic characters, like John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer, are also part of future expansion plans.

Creating the Dexter Magic

The production crew is a mix of industry powerhouses like Scott Reynolds, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Michael C. Hall. The revered Michael Lehmann, famed for directing Christian Slater in the hit film Heathers, takes the helm as the directing executive producer.
