Meet the New Blade
Mahershala Ali, a double Oscar winner, will bring to life the captivating character Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reboot. Fans are really excited since the official announcement in 2019 at Comic-Con. Ali confessed that he was interested in the role even before it came to him.
Passing the Baton
Wesley Snipes, who was undeniably cool as the original Blade on the big screen, was more than happy to pass the baton to Ali. He even gave Ali some sage advice: stay fit, don’t get injured, and make the most of the experience.
Familiar Faces and New Entries
Delroy Lindo officially joined the cast back in November 2021. Rumors say Aaron Pierre’s character got written out in a script revision. Mia Goth, added to the lineup in 2023, is expected to play the villainous role, Lilith.
Fresh Faces in the mix
Speculative casting news suggests we might see some new faces playing “Abid”, “Huntley”, and “Faiza”. These names hint at possible vampire hunters from the comic books.
An Intriguing Debut
Ali’s first cameo as Blade was in the movie Eternals. He challenges Dane Whitman, played by Kit Harington, from picking up a mysterious sword.
Star-Studded Writing Team
The script for the film boasts a star-studded lineup, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, and Nic Pizzolatto. Initial drafts have seen revisions over time.
On-screen Delays
The Blade reboot has faced a series of delays due to different issues. The original plans for 2021 were deferred to 2022, and now to 2023. All, from creative sparks, writer’s strike, and actor’s strike, led to these delays.

Whether Blade would have an R-rating like its predecessors was once uncertain. But Demange convinced Marvel to go for an R-rating. Now that he’s no longer part of the project, we’ll have to wait to learn if things change.
Possible Plot Teasers
Buzz around the possible plot suggests Lilith could be targeting Blade’s daughter’s blood to create Daywalkers. Some rumors indicate Lilith could use the mystical Ebony Blade, first seen in Eternals.
Reboot’s Release Journey
Blade’s release journey has been unpredictable but as of now, it’s scheduled for November 7, 2025. While things may still change, this is all we know about MCU’s Blade reboot for the time being. Just hang tight, folks! This is going to be a fantastic ride!
