Mets Put Right-handed Reliever Sean Reid-Foley On 15-day Injured List Due To Shoulder Concerns

Shoulder Concerns Slow Down Mets’ Sean Reid-Foley

Right-handed reliever Sean Reid-Foley is currently dealing with complications from a shoulder injury. Reid-Foley, who belongs to the Mets, believes this problem echoes the shoulder impingement condition that pushed him onto the injured list earlier this season. While no imaging has been done yet, the discomfort he’s experiencing seems to be affecting his pitching similarly.

An official confirmation of his condition will come after imaging, slated for Monday when the Mets return to New York. Reid-Foley admitted that although the pain is not identical to his March incident, it still impedes his performance.

Filling The Void

To ensure their bullpen doesn’t suffer, the Mets called up Danny Young from Triple-A Syracuse. Young, a left-handed pitcher, would serve as an additional leftie option for the team.

Issues On The Mound

Over the past week, Reid-Foley found recovery after games increasingly arduous. He needed more time to regain his full effectiveness on the mound. His fastball, which usually hit 94-95, was underperforming, and he was missing pitches. Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza correlated this drop in form with his shoulder concerns.

Choice Of Functionality

Reid-Foley candidly questioned the choice between him performing at 60% or 100%. Needless to say, he prefers to give his hundred percent and assured fans he’d make a spirited comeback once fit. He acknowledged how the lack of his presence on the field was disheartening for him and his fans.

Reid-Foley’s Impressive Run Despite Health Setbacks

Notwithstanding health setbacks, including a Tommy John surgery on his list of injuries in 2022, Reid-Foley managed a fairly healthy run in the current season. His determination and relentless optimism continue to inspire his teammates and fans alike.

Marte Sits Out Due To Knee Pain

Meanwhile, the team also reported trouble with outfielder Starling Marte. Marte exited the match against the Cubs owing to right knee pain. He’s been grappling with knee discomfort since the Mets’ Washington visit. Although his knee appeared largely okay during the Texas game, subsequent turf games might have aggravated the problem. Marte will undergo relevant tests in New York on Monday.

Despite an injury-ridden last season and now knee issues, Marte has been unstoppable. His contributions to the team, both offensively and defensively, have been remarkable, including a batting average of .357 over the last 15 games.

Senga On His Way To Recovery

Elsewhere, the team’s right-handed pitcher, Kodai Senga, who has been battling with shoulder strain and triceps tightness, is making progress. He is reportedly readying to face live hitters at the team’s complex at Port St. Lucie. If Senga’s rehab progresses well, we may see him in minor league assignments soon.

Despite various injuries and setbacks, the Mets’ spirit remains high, with every player committed to giving their best and bouncing back stronger. From Reid-Foley’s relentless optimism to Marte’s towering contributions despite knee troubles and Senga’s focused recovery, the team is a testament to grit and determination. Time will unveil how these players return stronger from their respective health challenges and contribute to the team’s success. Can we expect a more fired-up Mets team in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
