The Tupac biopic All Eyes on Me beat out Scarlett Johansson’s Rough Night with $27 million, which is higher than what many analysts expected the biopic to hit. No one expected the movie to do as well as it did, especially given the poor reviews and backlash by Jada Pinkeet Smith and 50 Cent. In fact, many people thought the movie would flop in the box office. However, the movie exceeded expectations, which probably had a lot to do with Tupac’s history in hip-hop and large fan base. Moviegoers were definitely interested in seeing the dramatic life and portrayal of Tupac Shakur. Besides, moviegoers ended up liking the movie as the biopic earned an A- CinemaScore.
