Fugitive Linked to Joliet Killings Found Dead in Texas: Key Developments

Nance Located in Texas After Murder Spree in Illinois

Romeo Nance, the 23-year-old suspected for the murders of at least seven people in Joliet, Illinois, was found dead in Natalia, Texas. The suspect reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot after a confrontation with the U.S. Marshals Service late on Monday, said authorities.

Key Takeaways:

– 23-year-old Romeo Nance, wanted for seven murders in Joliet, Illinois, was found dead in Texas from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
– Unknown if Nance has any connections to Texas; his traverse was approximately 1,200 miles.
– Nance was reportedly associated with two other shooting incidents in the same neighbourhood.
– Bodies were discovered in two homes, where Nance previously resided.
– Victims seem to be from the same family; identities, genders, and ages remain undisclosed.

The fatal shootings took place in two different homes, both of which had connections to Nance. The suspect’s previous residence was one of the murder scenes. However, it remains unclear if the suspect had any ties to Texas, which is approximately 1,200 miles away from Joliet, the scene of the crimes.

Detailed Investigation Unveils Horrific Crime Scene

Officers in Joliet were summoned earlier the same day to the 2200 block of West Acres. Inside two residences in the vicinity, they made a distressing discovery: seven bodies, two in one home and five in the other.

Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans stated investigators are still probing Nance’s motive. However, there’s an assumption that he “does know the victims,” who are believed to be family members. Details about the victims including their names, genders, and ages are not yet public.

Nance Linked to other Local Crimes

In addition to the seven murders, Nance had been on the watchlist for two more incidents both of which took place over the weekend, in the same area. On Sunday, police were alarmed of a shooting incident at a house on Pheasant Run Lane. The victim, 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, who had recently shifted from Nigeria, was found with a gunshot wound to his head; he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital shortly after.

Another incident linked to Nance occurred on the 200 block of Davis Street, where an individual suffered non-life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Swiftly Linking Nance to the Crime, Surveillance Ordered

Considering the precedents, authorities connected Nance’s red Toyota Camry to both crime scenes. Surveillance measures were put in place in the 2200 block of West Acres, Nance’s last known address. At one of the houses associated with Nance, there was no response, leading deputies to a house across the street.

On entering the second home, they found blood on the door and two bodies inside. The remaining five bodies were found at the first location. The time of death for these victims is still uncertain. As the case continues to unfold, the community waits on edge for further revelations.
