Speculations Persist on Najee Harris Trade from Steelers to Cowboys

Key Points:

– Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris has been linked to trade rumors with the Dallas Cowboys.
– NFL Analyst Gary Davenport recommends a Harris trade to Cowboys for a conditional 2025 draft pick.
– Despite these rumors, both teams involved have given no indication of such a deal.

Despite the lack of official confirmation, chatter about Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Najee Harris potentially being traded to the Dallas Cowboys continues among NFL pundits, led by Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport.

Persistent Rumors in the Making

Much-beloved player, Harris, found himself in the center of a hypothetical trade suggested by Davenport, who recommended the Steelers trade Harris to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a conditional 2025 draft pick.

“The Steelers have another running back on the roster who has been consistently more explosive than Harris in third-year pro Jaylen Warren,” claimed Davenport, giving fuel to the ongoing rumors. Adding that Warren’s average of over five yards per carry surpasses Harris’s statistics, Davenport reasoned potential considerations for a trade deal.

However, it’s important to note that despite a bigger number of attempts, Harris has consistently marked strong records, rushing for 1,000 yards with at least seven touchdowns in each of his three NFL seasons.

Is Harris a Worthwhile Investment for the Cowboys?

Davenport defends that despite Harris’ contract expiring at the end of 2024, his consistency would make a trade worthwhile for the Cowboys. He described Harris as a “durable chain-mover”, suggesting the Cowboys could make an elevated offer based on his performance.

The rumors of a trade offer involving Harris to the Cowboys began shortly after the Steelers did not exercise their fifth-year option on Harris. This intrigue was fed despite NFL Network’s Jane Slater dismissing the speculation as ‘click bait’, following her conversations with a team source.

Where Do the Cowboys Stand?

Dallas, who had recently added well-known veteran Ezekiel Elliott to their roster, haven’t addressed the rumors or shown any official interest in Harris. Elliott, although a valuable addition, is reaching 29 and isn’t considered the powerhouse he once was.

While these speculations persist, there is no concrete proof suggesting that the Cowboys are actively interested in acquiring Harris. Likewise, the Steelers have shown no signs of wanting to let go of Harris for the 2024 season.

Undoubtedly, the conjectures around a Harris trade are intriguing for fans, offering a lot of talking points. However, without substantial confirmation from the Steelers or the Cowboys, Harris’s future seems firmly rooted in Pittsburgh, at least for now. One thing remains certain; NFL pundits will continue to scrutinize player movements and potential trades, ensuring the conversation remains alive.
