Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+: Brace for a Price Hike This October!

BusinessDisney+, Hulu, and ESPN+: Brace for a Price Hike This October!

If you’re a fan of streaming platforms like Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, tighten your seatbelts, because a price hike is on its way from October 17. Following the recent price increase back in October 2023, The Walt Disney Company is planning another raise.

A Significant Price Increase

Users of these services will be affected whether or not they have subscribed with or without ads. Depending on the service and plan you’re signed up for, you could be looking at a fee increase of up to 25 percent. Undoubtedly, this marks a significant shift in pricing since the last increase.

Revised Price Structure

The new cost structure can be a bit confusing. To help you understand, here’s a quick breakdown of the new prices set to start from October 17.

For Disney+ with ads, the current rate is $8/month, rising to $10/month. If you’re availing Disney+ without ads, brace yourself to pay $2 more, moving the rate from $14/month to $16/month.

Users of Hulu with ads who were previously paying $8/year will now have to deal with monthly payments of $10. Hulu without ads will see a marginal increase from $18/month to $19/month.

For those combining Hulu and Live TV with ads, the price will shift from $77/month to $83/month. Similarly, without ads, it will jump from $90/month to $96/month.

If you have a Disney+ and Hulu combo with ads, your cost will go from $10/month to $11/month. Interestingly, there won’t be any changes for Disney+ and Hulu without ads, it remains at $20/month.

Sports enthusiasts with ESPN+ will have to pay $1 extra, making it $12/month from the previous $11/month.

The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle with and without ads will luckily not see any price alteration and they’ll remain at $15 and $25 respectively.

No Change in Pricing for Some Bundles

In a surprising turn of events, Disney has not announced any changes for the bundle comprising Disney+, Hulu, and competitor streamers Warner Bros. Discovery’s platform, Max.

Wrapping Up

It’s worth noting that the rising costs of these streaming services can push up your overall entertainment expenses. While Disney didn’t disclose the reasoning behind this surge in prices, subscribers can expect a higher monthly budget for digital entertainment starting from October.

On a final note, if you’re looking to subscribe to multiple platforms, consider the unchanged pricing of the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ with or without ads bundles or the Disney+, Hulu, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max combination. These options will help you maintain reasonable entertainment costs amidst the price hike.
