Is Dave Chappelle Making a Come Back? Chappelle Makes Unannounced Appearance at Chris Rock’s Stand-up Tour

Chris Rock is one of the most famous comedians in Hollywood. But fans attending Chris Rock’s New Orleans show were spoiled with Eric Andre,  Jeffrey Ross, and a surprise guest comedian, Dave Chappelle. Yes, you heard right. Dave Chappelle popped up for an unannounced appearance.

The details surrounding Rock’s Total Blackout tour is being kept under wraps with phones, cameras and other recording devices stored away, so Chappelle’s surprise visit was night revealed online via social media. In fact, press restrictions were in place as well. That said, The Times-Picayune was able to share some details from experience.

The Times-Picayune explained: “I know I was just here,” Chappelle said to open what became the pair’s 90-minute set, which began with Chappelle striding onstage underneath Rock’s giant logo on a screen above his head. Chappelle sauntered in, one hand grasping a microphone and the other a cigarillo that left a trail of smoke behind him as the audience realized what was happening and roared to its feet.”

“Tonight, you are all part of a social experiment. … Stranger things have happened in New Orleans,” Chappelle deadpanned to the audience, which included other celebrities like Tyra Banks and Rosario Dawson.”, Times-Picayune added.

Chris Rock was able to share several photos via Instagram showcasing the all-star lineup.

Chris Rock’s Total Blackout tour continues on Sunday with another show in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This news comes after the highly anticipated release of Dave Chappelle’s two-part stand-up show released on Netflix. All of which begs the question, is Dave Chappelle making a comeback?

Hackers Are Reportedly Holding Apple for Ransom

If you own an iPhone, you may want to back up your smartphone without using Apple’s iCloud service. Hackers calling themselves the “Turkish Crime Service” are threatening to destroy the data attached to over 500 million Apple users’ devices, including files listed on the Cloud, if the company does not pay a ransom of at least $75,000.

Motherboard reports the hackers have access to 559 million Apple accounts. That said, the claim is currently unverified even though a YouTube video reportedly demonstrates the hackers logging into one account. However, the “Turkish Crime Service” says they will remotely eliminate all of the data on April 7 if they do not receive the $75,000 in BitCoin or $100,000 in iTunes gift cards.

If Apple does decide to pay the ransom, the hackers claim they will delete their list of accounts. However, emails sent to Motherboard suggest Apple is not considering giving into the ransom.

“We do not reward cyber criminals for breaking the law,” Apple says in an email, according to a screenshot, which also shows Apple telling the hackers their messages will be delivered to the authorities.

Moreover, Motherboard reports the news outlet was given access to an email account the hackers claim to have used to communicate with Apple’s security team, but Motherboard was unable to confirm if the emails they received were legitimate. At this time Apple has not commented on the situation.

Tyra Banks to Host ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Next Season

Tyra Banks is returning to television. Banks will now host the next season of America’s Next Top Model. 

Banks created the popular modeling competition reality show several years ago and will now host the next season of the TV series on VH1. Also, filming is set to begin this summer.

The former supermodel, Banks, will also be replacing Nick Cannon’s job on America’s Got Talent, which makes Banks one busy businesswoman.

Banks previously hosted America’s Next Top Model for several seasons and served as the show’s executive producer alongside Ken Mok. Banks will be taking over Rita Ora’s hosting duties on the show.

Previously, Banks walked out of hosting the show when the series moved to VH1 last year after running for several years on The CW. Additional judges will be announced later.

“I’m overwhelmed and humbled by the intensity of the ANTM fan base whose deep affection for the show led me to have a change of heart,” Banks said in a statement. “After giving it a lot of thought, I realized that remaining behind the camera wasn’t enough because ANTM is woven into my DNA.”

Mok also thanked Rita Ora for hosting the show and welcomed Banks for returning to the show.

“Tyra has always been the heart and soul of the franchise and her absence was deeply felt by our fiercely loyal fans who missed their Queen of the Smize,” he said in a statement. “We’d like to thank Rita Ora for being a great partner and total pro.  She infused this new iteration of ANTM with passion and creativity and we wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.”

Model and reality star Kendall Jenner, 21, was robbed after thieves broke into her home and stole $200,000 in valuables.

Someone called the police around 1:15 a.m on Thursday to report a “burglary suspect here now,” according to the Los Angeles Times. After police arrived on the scene and searched the home, they were not unable to find any burglars. According to reports, Jenner went to look for her jewelry, and that is when she noticed multiple items were missing.Sources close to the

Sources close to the investigation report Jenner had multiple people inside her home, and several unknown people were able to gain access into her home. Also, detectives were unable to find any evidence that anyone broke-in at home.

Last year, Kendall Jenner purchased six-bed room home for $6.5 million, which belonged to actors John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

But, as the Los Angeles Times pointed out, there have been a string of robberies affecting celebrities and athletes. $2 million worth of jewelry was taken from the home of singer Alanis Morissette last month. In addition, former L.A. Lakers basketball player Derek Fisher and rapper Nicki Minaj were robbed of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry last year.

This news comes after Kendall’s sister, Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris last October. Reports surfaced that the leader in the robbery heist found all the information necessary to steal from the reality star was from the reality star’s social media posts. That said, Kardashian also explained that filming after the incident was “therapeutic”.

Former ‘Power Rangers’ Actor, Ricardo Medina, Pleads Guilty to Killing His Roommate

An actor who once played one of the Power Rangers in the hit superhero TV series Ricardo Medina, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for stabbing his roommate to death with a sword.

Prosecutors report Ricardo Medina, 38, entered the plea deal on Thursday in Antelope Valley Court. Medina admitted that he killed his roommate, Josh Sutter after the two roommates got into an argument at their home in January 2016.

Now, Medina faces six years in prison when he sentenced later on this month, according to a statement by the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

Last January, Medina was charged with the murder of Sutter following the fatal argument. Detectives reported Medina and Sutter had argued over the way Medina’s girlfriend had parked the car just before Medina stabbed Sutter with a sword. Investigators say Sutter forced his way into Medina’s room and that is when Medina grabbed a sword and stabbed Sutter multiple times before calling 911, investigators said. Medina first claimed that he killed his roommate in self-defense.

Medina has appeared in multiple TV shows including CSI: Miami and ER but, the actor was most known for playing the Red Lion Wild Force Power Ranger in the hit children’s superhero series Power Rangers Wild Force in 2002. He also played “Deker” in Power Rangers Samurai in 2011 and 2012.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Sutter moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to help his sister, who specializes in selling rescued dogs. However, Medina reportedly started acting “erratically” after Sutter was hired and the two would argue “frequently.” Sutter’s sister also told LA Times taht the six-year sentence is not long enough. “We just want him where he belongs, and to start trying to live again. That’s what Josh would want.”

Dave Chappelle Talks O.J. Simpson, Race, and ISIS in a New Netflix Trailer

Netflix is about to drop one of the most highly anticipated comedy specials in years: Two new specials by Dave Chappelle.

We reported the news to you about Netflix’s deal with Dave Chappelle and the plan to release two specials and a new original performance to hit the streaming giant last year. On Tuesday, those first two specials, which were recorded in Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, have dropped a special trailer.

The trailer is brief, but it highlights Chappelle poking fun at ISIS, racism, and O.J. Simpson – the type of jokes that made Chappelle famous. These shows will most likely be a hit and funny.

“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” Lisa Nishimura, Netflix VP of Original Documentary and Comedy, said in the press release last November. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy, and we are honored he will mark his global return on Netflix.”

It is important to note that after Chappelle left his hit TV series The Chappelle Show on Comedy Central, the comedian took a step back from comedy. But, made infrequent stand-up and TV appearances for over half a decade. He made surprise appearances on HBO’s Def Poetry, where he performed two poems including “F*** Ashton Kutcher” and “How I got the Lead on Jeopardy”. But by 2013, he returned to full-time touring stand-up and appeared in several feature films including Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq.

‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Hit 4 Year Low

Season 7 for The Walking Dead has been a tumultuous one for the zombie drama. 17 million people tuned in for the seventh season premiere, making it the second highest rated episode in the show’s history.

But after several episodes, the show lost millions upon millions of viewers and ended up with 7 million fewer viewers per episode, which is numbers that have not happened since the show’s third season.

Following a midseason break, The Walking Dead looked like it was going to turn things around and bring back the action that made the show popular. Rick and the gang are back together and ready to fight villainous Negan and his group of cronies. The episode ended up bring 12 million viewers, but just a few episodes later, the show has hit a four-year low point, with 10.16 million viewers.

The show has seen a decline in ratings since the Negan storyline started. In fact, 4 out of the top ten worst-reviewed Walking Dead episodes are in season seven, according to IMDB.

Pinpointing the cause of the problem is hard. Some reports suggested Walking Dead fans planned on boycotting the show after the people found the season 7 premiere offensive. In the episode, several lead characters were executed by a baseball bat. Other than that it is hard to say what is causing the decline in viewership.

The Walking Dead is still one of the most popular shows on television. But, this news comes after the show drew controversy after the actor who plays Negan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, got involved in the middle of a race controversy. Primark stopped the sale of a The Walking Dead T-shirt after people called the shirt racist. Morgan responded by saying “people are stupid.”

Snapchat’s Stock Hits Record Low

Snap Inc., the company behind the popular teen video sharing app Snapchat, debuted on Wall Street earlier this month. But, the company’s shares have just hit a record low.

Snapchat is expected to grow in 2017 rapidly but by not as much as the company originally expected.

eMarketer released a report on Tuesday and cut the company’s projected revenue by $30 billion to $770 million from an estimated $800 million. eMarketer argued that the cut was due to “higher-than-estimated” revenue sharing with publishing partners located in Snapchat’s Discover section. Snpachat has partnered with media companies including BuzzFeed and Vice to produce original content for the app in exchange for ad revenue placed with their content. In the initial public offering paperwork, Snap revealed that the company would pay the publishers $58 million in 2016, which was an increase of $48 million in 2015.

eMarketer forecasts Snap would still earn a 158% growth in ad revenue in 2017. Also, Snap is predicted to account for 1.3% of the total mobile advertising market in 2017 and is expected to more than double in two years. Meanwhile, eMarketer points out Facebook is projected to control 25% of the entire mobile advertising industry and Google will control 32% of the market share.

That said, it is important to note that the company’s stock has quickly fallen since the company went public on March 2nd. Snap inc’s stock price dropped from $24.48 to an all-time low of $20.50 on Tuesday.

SoundCloud is Reportedly for Sale for $250 Million

In 2014, SoundCloud was valued at $700 million. But, now the company is reportedly struggling to make ends meet.

SoundsCloud is reportedly looking for businesses to invest, or someone to acquire the company, according to a Recode report. Sources close to the streaming music service report trying to raise more money to support the business. Also, Recode reports that it has talked to potential buyers including Spotify, without closing a deal. Also, the company has been trying to raise more than $100 million since last summer.

Now, the company has reached a point where they may sell for less than what they thought it was worth three years ago. Moreover, the company is reportedly attempting to sell for $250 million.

That said, SoundCloud is struggling to find businesses interested in investing in the streaming music company. While the music industry has changed over the years, more people are willing to buy streaming music accounts including Spotify, which currently has more than 50 million paying subscribers around the world.

To boost their revenue, SoundCloud has added a paid subscription model to their free service, which may not have been very successful. Last year, SoundCloud released a $10-a-month service. The company argued that sales would grow by 250% this year thanks to their new service.

In 2014, investors found SoundCloud to be worth $700 million after the company obtained a $70 million Twitter investment. The website claims they have 175 million unique users, but SoundCloud has not updated their numbers in the past three years.

Americans Are Not Going Out to Eat As Much

The U.S. economy added over 200,000 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. February also had one of the warmest Winters in a decade. So you would assume, restaurants would have seen an uptick in the number of people deciding to eat out.

That said, people are cutting back on restaurant meals. Restaurant sales dropped 3.7%, and foot traffic dropped another 5.0% from a year ago, according to TDn2K’s Restaurant Industry report.

This news comes after a January business report, which illustrated sales growth was flat in January, which was good news for an industry that experienced ten consecutive months of negative restaurant sales.

As to why the decrease in restaurant sales? Black Box Intelligence argues that it is due to a myriad of factors. These factors include low wage gains, rising inflation, and pressure in the restaurant industry.

“Consumers are spending, but they are being battered by rising inflation,” the report explained. “The rebound in energy costs may be helping that sector but it is not doing much for households. Indeed, spending power has flatlined as wage gains are barely offsetting price increases. That is putting additional pressure on the restaurant industry.”

It is also important to point out that the IRS delayed 40 million tax refunds associated with families claiming the “Earned Income Tax Credit” or the “Additional Child Tax Credit” this year, which may have had an impact on how much disposable income families had and were willing to spend at a restaurant.

The region that decided to not visit a restaurant was the Southwest, where same-store sales dropped by nearly 8% and foot traffic dropped by over 9%. The least weak region was California where restaurant sales increased by 0.5%.

This news comes after McDonald’s announced a plan to provide fast food delivery service through Uber’s UberEats platform.
