Banks added, “I was so grateful that I didn’t have enough money at the time to follow his advice. I also did not sign with him despite that.”
The Hunger Games actress is one of many actors in the film industry who has recently spoken out about what it is like to be a woman in the movie industry. Recently, Community and Get Hard actress Alison Brie, revealed during the Austin Television Festival screening of the pilot episode of Netflix’s new TV series Glow that not much has improved for stars since the 1980s. Brie shared a story about the time she auditioned for HBO’s Entourage where she was instructed to go topless during her audition.
“Early in my career, I auditioned for three lines on an episode of Entourage that I had to go on in a bikini,” she said. “Or like shorts and the tiniest shorts. And they were like, ‘Okay, can you take your top off now?’”
Casting director, Jennifer Euston, later tweeted, “Makes me sick there are producers who abuse their power & if there was a Casting Director present, they did nothing? Inexcusable.”
