Ex-Cowboys Leader Ben DiNucci Reenters Free Agency Following Denver Broncos Release

SportsEx-Cowboys Leader Ben DiNucci Reenters Free Agency Following Denver Broncos Release

 Key Takeaways:

– Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Ben DiNucci, is back on the market after being released by Denver Broncos.
– Despite a challenging start to his NFL career, DiNucci showcased strong performance during his stint in the XFL.
– The Denver Broncos’ recent roster reinforcements have rendered DiNucci’s role redundant.
– Given his past with the Dallas Cowboys, fans might anticipate a potential return.

Quarterback Ben DiNucci Open to New Opportunities

In a surprising move, the Denver Broncos have officially cut ties with former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Ben DiNucci. A notable contender, DiNucci’s availability is likely to attract attention from multiple teams, including his former club.

The team’s decision, announced on May 8, follows DiNucci’s year-long stint on their practice squad. ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler was the first to relay the news, noting that DiNucci’s release was primarily due to the oversupply of quarterbacks for the Broncos.

Denver Welcomes New Quarterbacks

Significant changes in the Broncos’ roster, including the arrival of several new quarterbacks, have made DiNucci’s role in the team obsolete. The team boosted their ranks by drafting Bo Nix and former New York Jets QB Zach Wilson. With Jarrett Stidham also in contention, DiNucci’s position became increasingly challenging.

DiNucci Reflects on Dismissal

Shortly after the news broke, DiNucci took to social media to express his take on the situation. Despite his disappointment, he remains positive and eager for future opportunities, “All part of the journey !! Excited for what’s to come,” DiNucci shared.

DiNucci’s NFL Journey So Far

Coming from a successful college career at both Pittsburgh and James Madison, DiNucci joined the NFL as a seventh-round draft by the Cowboys in 2020. Despite his late introduction to the team, his performances piqued the interest of fans and critics.

Injuries to Dak Prescott and Andy Dalton shifted the spotlight onto DiNucci, who made three appearances and a start, although the outcomes were less than ideal. Although he had a stable completion rate and null interceptions, his performance lacked the dynamic edge commonly seen in accomplished quarterbacks.

Transition to XFL and Potential for Cowboys Return

In 2022, DiNucci was released by the Cowboys and managed to turn his career around in the 2023 XFL season. He topped the league in yards and completions and ranked second in passing touchdowns. With Denver letting go of DiNucci simultaneously with Cowboys releasing Martavis Bryant, fans might be anticipating DiNucci’s Dallas return.

While all eyes are on DiNucci’s next move, there’s no denying that the quarterback has a lot to offer his future team. Whether it’s a comeback to the Cowboys or a fresh start with a new squad, the former XFL star is poised to keep shaking things up in the NFL world.
