Severe Fallout of a Fall at The Hospital

19-year-old Mamie Laverock, widely known for her role in Hallmark Channel’s “When Calls The Heart,” is in heartbreaking distress after falling five stories from a hospital balcony on May 26, 2024. Nicole Rockmann has had to provide updates about her daughter’s critical condition while dismissing speculation on the nature of the fall and promising legal action against the hospital.

Rockmann confirmed on May 30 to The Los Angeles Times that her daughter’s fall was unintended and that accountability would be demanded. Earlier on the same day, an initial update on Laverock’s GoFundMe page indicated that she had survived tough surgeries and was doing well. This update was however removed after a few hours.

A Closer Look at Laverock’s Current State

The following day, Rockmann posted a detailed update explaining that Laverock had managed to open her eyes, but was suffering immense pain from her ‘shattered’ body, necessitating multiple life-saving surgeries.

Before the tragic fall, Laverock had been receiving intensive treatment at St. John’s Hospital in Vancouver after a medical emergency on May 11. Initially, the GoFundMe was set up to aid her parents in their daily visits to the hospital. Sadly, the hospital stay turned tragic when Laverock was escorted from a secured hospital unit to a balcony, leading to a devastating fall.

Desperate to Dispel Speculation

Even as the news of Laverock’s tragic accident became public, fans and social media users couldn’t help but speculate. Many wondered if the fall was an attempted suicide. Rockmann took it upon herself to dismiss such theories during her interview with the LA Times. The actress’s mother confirmed that Laverock remains on life support, although no longer dependent on a ventilator.

Rockmann reiterated that the fall was not suicide, laying the blame squarely on the hospital and suggesting legal action. Although she mistakenly referred to the hospital as St. Paul’s Hospital in the interview, she corrected this in a GoFundMe update later on.

Built-Up Legal Battle

Ann Gibbon, a spokesperson for Providence Health Care, confirmed that an incident occurred at the hospital but could not provide specific details due to patient privacy concerns. Meanwhile, Rockmann and her family are determined to seek justice for Laverock’s predicament, asserting that they have a strong case.

Gratitude Amidst Torment

Despite the physical torment Laverock is enduring following her extensive surgeries, Rockmann expressed gratitude for the caring health workers. She described her daughter’s endurance as a miracle and voiced her hope in Laverock’s love for life and her family.

Mamie Laverock made her debut in “When Calls The Heart” as Rosaleen Sullivan in 2014. She returned to the show as a young adult in 2023 for Season 10. This unfortunate incident has placed her emerging career on hold as she focuses on her recovery.
