New Details Unveiled About Paulo Liuzzo’s Death

The unfortunate demise of Paulo Liuzzo, Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend, has been confirmed by the Miami-Dade County medical examiner as a result of acute combined drug toxicity. The substances found in his system include fentanyl, bromazolam, ketamine, and cocaine. Reportedly found non-responsive in his Miami hotel room on February 7, 2024, the 41-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene.

Death Ruled an Accident

The official autopsy report, obtained and published by Daily Mail, affirmed the cause of Liuzzo’s death as accidental acute combined drug toxicity. Additionally, the Miami City Police Department discovered ample drug paraphernalia in Liuzzo’s room when they arrived, further corroborating the finding. The examination also ruled out any signs of trauma or foul play.

Who was Paulo Liuzzo?

Born in Plainview, New York, Liuzzo had been residing in Miami for the last four to five years, working in art sales. With a history dating back to Princess Beatrice in 2005, the former couple ended their relationship in 2006. Liuzzo, who was never married and didn’t have children, was known to have had bouts of depression and was suspected of drug use.

Liuzzo’s Persistent Struggle with Drugs

While Liuzzo’s mother confirmed that he didn’t have any medical conditions, she did reveal that her son went through orthopedic surgery for a sports injury in his youth. Further, she also revealed signs of his depression. Despite these challenges, the report states, Liuzzo neither had a formal mental diagnosis nor expressed any suicidal thoughts.

Rise of Bromazolam Misuse

Disturbingly, bromazolam, one of the drugs found in Liuzzo’s autopsy, seems to be gaining notoriety. The government of New Brunswick issued a warning in 2022 about this drug, saying it had been detected in nine sudden death cases. Bromazolam, along with fentanyl in several instances, has become entwined with the drug culture. Not approved for medical use anywhere, this benzodiazepine, often called a ‘street drug’, can result in fatal outcomes, particularly when consume alongside opioids like fentanyl.

Conclusion

While the investigation into Paulo Liuzzo’s demise provides insights into his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, it also highlights a larger international problem – the rise in misuse of drugs like bromazolam. This tragic incident serves as a wake-up call and emphasizes the need for improved mental health services and focused issues on substance misuse.
