Jared Leto’s Unique Method Acting for Joker and Morbius Roles

EntertainmentJared Leto's Unique Method Acting for Joker and Morbius Roles

Jared Leto, well-known for diving deeply into his characters, has recently stirred up some conversation. His all-out commitment to method acting when he played the Joker in Suicide Squad caused a lot of buzz. This technique continued in his portrayal of Dr. Michael Morbius in the film Morbius. These roles and his unique acting approach have raised quite a few eyebrows.

Going All Out for Morbius

Jared Leto really went the extra mile for Morbius. He not only acted as Dr. Michael Morbius on-screen but also stayed in the role off-screen. He even used crutches and wheelchairs when cameras were not rolling. His commitment to staying in character all the time is a key part of his method acting. It allowed him to get more into the mind of his character. However, it also led to a few delays in production.

Don’t worry, the Morbius director, Daniel Espinosa, didn’t mind these delays. In fact, he was quite supportive of Leto’s approach. Even though the production slowed down a bit, Espinosa encouraged Leto’s artistic journey. He even had a crew member help Leto to speed things up. Espinosa clearly appreciates actors who bring something unique to the table. He believes that acting isn’t about fitting into a mold.

Remembering the Joker

You may recall that Leto’s method acting got him into a little hot water during his time on Suicide Squad. He took on the role of the Joker in 2016, and his unusual approach drew a lot of attention. Some of his co-stars reported receiving strange and sometimes unsettling gifts from Leto. For example, Margot Robbie got a live rat. Leto did this as part of his process of getting into character.

Leto himself didn’t think he did anything wrong. He said that all he wanted was to add a bit of unpredictability and break any walls between the cast members. However, his performance got mixed reviews. And sadly, both Suicide Squad and Morbius didn’t make a big splash at the box office.

Reviewing the Results

Despite all of Leto’s hard work, both Suicide Squad and Morbius did not do well in theaters. Morbius got a 5.1 out of 10 on IMDB and a low rating of 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. Leto’s fans found these results surprising, given his notorious method acting for both films.

Leto’s dedication to his roles still shouldn’t go unnoticed though! Even if it didn’t exactly lead to box office success, his unique approach to acting continues to make a lot of noise. Jared Leto catches both criticism and praise for the love he puts into his characters. His method acting might be seen as controversial, but it’s undeniable that he truly gives his all for every role he takes on.
