You’ve probably heard the buzz – Naruto, one of our all-time favorite series, might soon be a live-action film from Lionsgate. This flick was first whispered about in 2015 and since then, fans around the world have been on their toes waiting for more updates. But recent news puts us, the devoted fans, on the edge. It seems the producers might not quite get what Naruto is all about. Talk about a bummer, right?
Turning Cartoons into Films: A Rocky Road?
When animated series get transformed into live-action movies, a lot of times we’re left feeling meh. Imagine a well-done Naruto live-action! This is what got us going when the One Piece live-action series by Netflix turned out so awesome. But don’t hold your breath just yet. Word on the street is that the dudes who are supposed to turn Naruto into a movie are kinda lost when it comes to the storyline and characters. We, the fans, are definitely not stoked about that.
Is the Naruto Live-Action Movie Doomed?
Check this out. Matt McGloin from Cosmic Book News says he got the inside scoop. Apparently, the guys making our beloved Naruto into a live-action movie don’t truly get the anime and manga series. Yikes! Does this remind you of anything? How about that fiasco that was Dragonball Evolution? It seems they might be trying to cash in on us, the fans, rather than respecting what we love or the original source material. Not cool, guys.
The Ghost in the Film: Where’s Naruto Creator?
Pouring salt on the wound is this sad piece of news. Masashi Kishimoto, the awesome guy who created Naruto, isn’t really involved in making the film. Sure, he said it’s all good, but he’s not rolling up his sleeves and getting in there. Remember how Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece, made their live-action series amazing? So, with Kishimoto away, we can’t help but worry.
With the guys creating the film seemingly not getting Naruto, and Kishimoto taking a step back, it makes us wonder if the movie will hit the mark. It doesn’t help either that Lionsgate is playing coy and not giving us much info. This leaves us fans wondering. Can Naruto become a live-action film success like One Piece, or is it a dream too far?

So what’s next? Want Naruto to rock as a live-action film like One Piece? Well, Lionsgate, you’ve got some making up to do. First of all, understand what Naruto is all about. Learn from One Piece – it was a big hit because they got it right!
