The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has a gift for all superhero fans. Its latest Deadpool & Wolverine movie has unexpectedly brought Wesley Snipes back as Blade. As the skilled vampire hunter, Snipes’ surprise appearance has certainly made fans go wild.
Is This the Blade We Know and Love?
When Wesley Snipes appeared back in the spotlight as Blade, he mentioned, “There’s only been one Blade. There will only ever be one Blade.” Now, people thought this was the same Blade they’ve grown fond of. But, there’s a twist. Pieces of information hint that Snipes’ Blade might be from a different timeline, unlike the Blade trilogy we know.
This theory finds its base in a deleted scene from the first Blade movie (from way back in 1998). This forgotten scene, now on YouTube, shows Morbius, a peculiar character from Sony’s Marvel Universe.
The Mysterious Deleted Scene
In this particular scene, Morbius is hidden in the background while Blade and Karen are having a chat about vampire hunting on a rooftop. Morbius was initially set to be the main villain for the sequel of Blade, but he never made it. Wondering why this scene is important? It might be hinting at an alternate universe. This different world may show Blade having to kill Morbius, who made him.
This can mess with the timeline since Morbius plays a key role. If there’s a disruption, the Time Variance Authority (kinda like the timeline police) might have to step in. They would have to send this ‘new’ Blade into a very different place.
You might think this is just wild guessing. Yet, the multiverse-thing in the MCU sounds like it makes these out-of-the-box ideas possible.
Snipes Breaks Records with Comeback
Wesley Snipes’ surprise appearance is more than just a shocker. It’s now a record. He’s now got the longest gap between playing characters in different Marvel films. Plus, he’s been performing a Marvel character in live-action longer than anyone else. That’s cool, right?
What’s ironic is that Snipes didn’t think he could make a comeback. He confessed to Entertainment Weekly about his thoughts. “I did not think it was possible. I didn’t think we would be able to pull it off…” But then, a call from an old friend changed his mind.
