Brompton, a renowned folding bike manufacturer, has marked its entry into the adventurous end of the folding bike market with the release of its G Line Range. The G Line has been designed from the ground up to promise increased versatility, a new frame, hydraulic disc brakes, and custom Schwalbe tyres.

One Bike for Any Terrain

The G Line boasts a new frame designed with the intention to be a bike suitable for both city streets and dusty gravel paths. The bike claims to deliver a full-sized bike’s feel but transforms into a compact package for easy storage and travel.

“Brompton has always been synonymous with quality and versatility,” said Will Carleysmith, Chief Design & Engineering Officer at Brompton. “With the G Line, we’ve taken this a step further, creating what we believe to be the best one-bike solution for the city and beyond.”

Superior Brakes for Rough Rides

A key feature to note is the inclusion of hydraulic disc brakes. Unlike previous ranges, the G Line is the first Brompton bike equipped with them. Coupled with 20-inch wheels, these improvements add to the bike’s capabilities on rougher surfaces without compromising its compactness when folded.

Seamless Tyre Collaboration

Brompton collaborated with Schwalbe, producing the specific 20-inch G-One tyres for the G Line. Puncture-resistant and suitable for off-road biking, these tyres also come with an option from Continental for those inclined towards urban cycling.

The Gear Factor

Shimano’s 8-speed Alfine internal hub gear system marks its debut in Brompton’s range with the G Line, providing a wide array of gears suitable for challenging off-road climbs and fast-paced city commuting.

Electrifying the G Line

The G Line features an electric version with a battery-powered 250-watt hub motor. Designed for reliability and durability, the Electric G Line’s motor underwent extensive testing, substantiating the bike’s longevity.

Connected Biking Experience

The G Line also connects to Brompton’s mobile app. Brompton bike owners can use the app to keep their bikes updated, control power modes, maximise battery life, and track distance.

Accompanying Accessories

Further expanding the G Line’s offerings, Brompton released a range of accessories and luggage. This includes waterproof roll-top bags, a water bottle and mount, a toolkit, and more, all available directly via Brompton’s website.

Product Availability and Pricing

Brompton’s G Line range becomes available starting October 2024 via direct purchase from Brompton or through accredited UK and European retailers. The standard G Line retails starting £2,399, while the Electric model costs £3,499.
