The Christian Family’s Battle
An unsettling event unfolded for a Maryland-based anonymous Christian couple, John Doe II and Jane Doe, in the summer of 2021. The couple lost custody of their autistic 16-year-old son due to their refusal to affirm his newfound sexual orientation. The Maryland Department of Human Services and local police tried to forcibly remove the son from his home, labeling the parents’ actions as child abuse.
The Nightmare at Home
The event occurred in Prince George’s County, Maryland, a location well-known for its LGBTQ-affirming policies. The local child welfare department, primarily through its AFFIRM unit, deems non-affirmation of a child’s gay or transgender identity as harmful and potentially abusive, disregarding religious and parental rights.
Shocking Allegations and Counter-Attacks
John and Jane had no inkling of their son’s alternate sexual orientation until the child welfare authorities arrived. Later, they received a letter informing that the welfare case was closed. However, their ordeal didn’t end here. The couple lost permanent custody of their son when they refused to affirm his transgender identity during his stay at Children’s National Hospital.
The Central Role of Children’s National Hospital
John Doe II and Jane Doe’s son was admitted to Children’s National Hospital following a suicide attempt. The hospital reportedly pressured the parents to affirm their son’s new female persona. Staff even suggested that John Doe II and Jane Doe change their Christian beliefs to suit their transgender-supportive perspective.
Stepping over Religious Boundaries
The hospital staff allegedly asked the parents to refrain from reading certain sections of the Bible that endorse traditional gender and sexual values. This instruction impinged on their religious rights and fostered angst within the family.
Exploitation and Legal Battles
In the ensuing legal battle, the couple was cleared of the initial allegations of abuse but the son was not returned to them. Instead, he was relocated to reside with the hospital’s non-binary chaplain.
Radical Transgender Policies: The National Undertone
This entire episode reveals a larger narrative of government intervention and LGBTQ advocacy in family matters. Notably, a $10 million federal grant enabled county-wide implementation of controversial child welfare interventions designed to promote LGBTQ affirmation.
Looming Threat to Family Values
As the trend towards LGBTQ-affirming child welfare policies is being pushed at state and national levels, traditional families risk losing their parental rights and religious freedoms. This puts the mental health of both parents and children at risk while also imposing a significant financial burden on families as they engage in legal battles to regain custody of their children.
This occurrence serves as a warning for Christian and other traditional families of the possible impacts and fallout from the aggressive promotion of transgender and homosexual acceptance. It also highlights the need for a more balanced approach that respects and protects diverse ethnic, religious, and parental beliefs and rights.
Democrats are modern-day pagans. Too bad this family was subjected to their perversion.
The extreme transphobic slant and twisting reality to favor the perverted, religious zealot parents, who were probably trying to push conversion therapy to their LGBTQ+ child is sickening, damaging and irresponsible. I am glad that poor child was released from the fire and brimstone hell of her home life under those Christian-taliban parents. Who’s traditional family are they referring? The Handmaid’s Tale? LGBTQ+ children are born that way. Religion is a lifestyle and too much of anything is harmful. Some LGBTQ+ people grow up to have their own families with children. Whatever happened to love thy neighbor and treat others with unconditional love and compassion? Those are REAL Christian values. Not fear-mongering, mental torment that is disguised to look like religion. She does not need religious zealot groomers for parents. Conversion therapy was outlawed for a reason. It is damaging and can drive people to self hate, severe emotional and psychological trauma and suicide. Shame on the writer of this article. This is an anti LGBTQ+ propaganda hit piece.
What the article doesn’t explain is that the teen is actually 19 now and is considered a legal adult. The case started when he was 16 and attempted suicide TWICE before being omitted to Children’s National Hospital, which is alarming because that means abuse was certainly going on in the home and it makes sense why the teen was never returned to the family. Additionally, the family blames the son being autistic and therefore mentally impressionable or manipulated for being the reason the teen changed their gender, which is a complete disregard for the child’s personal choices on the parent’s part. Now that the teen is a legal adult, they have the liberty of returning to the parents if they so choose. However, they have chosen to remain in foster care.
1. The teen attempted suicide multiple times under the parent’s care.
2. The parents refuse to believe the teen has made the personal decision to be trans.
3. The teen, now an adult, has chosen not to return to the family.
Clearly, the parents had been doing something wrong to the point that the teen wanted to off themselves and never return to them. They are old enough and capable of making their own decisions. While the parents have religious freedom, it can come with consequences, such as being held accountable if their child becomes suicidal if such beliefs are forced upon them or they have a lack of support and/or reaffirmation. The parents never suggested any mental support for their child’s suicidal choices, which means they do not care enough about them to reaffirm their identity. It’s good that custody was revoked, because it’s likely that the teen would not be alive to this day otherwise. I see no wrongdoing in the actions played out by CPS.
