Trump’s Off-Track Speeches May Boost Kamala Harris’ Support Base

Key Takeaways:

– Former President Trump’s inconsistent speeches might be helping Vice President Harris rally up more voters.
– Trump’s increasingly erratic behavior has drawn concern from advisers and former associates.
– Several planned interviews and public appearances by Trump have been cancelled, with unclear reasons given.

Trump’s Off-Beat Tactics

In the final lap of the campaign, Former President Donald Trump seems to have lost his way somewhat. His stump speeches have become increasingly incoherent, veering off track alarmingly and potentially aiding his political adversary Vice President Kamala Harris.

This observation comes from former Trump adviser and current CNN commentator, David Urban. Urban suggests that Trump’s bewildering speeches may be spurring on Harris’ supporters to participate more by showing up at the polls.

This could spell trouble for Trump, especially in key battleground states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

“When he’s good, he’s great, and when he’s off message, he’s not so great,” Urban said.

The Harris campaign could leverage this opportunity and keep their voter turnout robust.

Trump’s Erratic Approach Worries His Allies

Urban is not alone in his cautionary stance. Several of Trump’s allies have also expressed concern regarding his tendency to go off-script.

A recent example is an impromptu dance performance by Trump during a town hall event that replaced the customary Q&A session. The former president danced to his campaign playlist for close to 40 minutes, drawing widespread attention.

He made headlines again by answering a question about foreign election interference with a veer into “the enemy from within,” tormenting many with the suggestion of using U.S. military against his political adversaries.

In fact, in a conversation with Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait, Trump resorted to irrelevant responses to direct questions, which further caused confusion and concern.

Despite the concern of allies and calls for self-restraint, it seems Trump is unfazed. He seems persistent in his unique approach with no signs of slowing down.

Trump’s Anti-Migrant Rhetoric Might Backfire

Trump has demonstrated an unwavering stance with his anti-migrant speech. Interestingly, bolder still was his tweet vowing to invoke the 18th century law allowing the detention of legal immigrants based solely on their country of birth.

President Joe Biden was not spared in the onslaught. Trump deviated from his anti-immigrant narrative to target President Biden, calling him ‘cognitively repaired,’ a clumsy twist on the term ‘cognitively impaired’.

Campaign Strategy Shifts to Low-Profile

Evidently, Trump’s campaign seems to be pulling him away from the limelight lately. This is exhibited by the sudden cancellation of his appearances and interviews.

He cancelled interviews with CNBC and NBC News, and even backed out of an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes. Moreover, Trump has refused another debate with Harris after their meeting in Pennsylvania on September 10.

He even cancelled his keynote speech at a National Rifle Association event in Savannah, Georgia. The reason given was a vague ‘campaign scheduling conflict’, providing little clarity to his supporters.

This low-profile strategy, coupled with Trump’s perplexing speeches, can potentially lead the voters right into the hands of Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign. However, only time will tell how these events will shape up the political scenario in the coming days.
