Introducing Bryan’s Family

Here’s what you should know about the people who constitute Bryan’s family, starting with his father, Michael Kohberger Jr.

Bryan’s Parents: Michael and MaryAnn Kohberger

Bryan’s father, Michael, served as a maintenance worker at Pleasant Valley School District from 2006 to 2019. Post the grievous incident, Michael flew to Washington to accompany his son home to Albrightsville, Pennsylvania. Both father and son undertook a 2,500-mile journey in the homebound direction. Bryan remained with his family till his arrest on December 30. Despite their efforts, Bryan’s parents’ attempt to quash their subpoena to testify before a grand jury in May 2023 was unsuccessful.

Bryan’s mother, MaryAnn, was part of the district faculty until 2020, assisting special-needs learners. Besides her career, MaryAnn periodically penned letters to Pocono Record, their local newspaper, expressing serious concerns over school shootings in America.

Bryan’s Sisters: Amanda and Melissa Kohberger

Amanda Kohberger, Bryan’s elder sister, previously pursued an acting career. Unfortunately, following Bryan’s arrest, both Amanda and her sister Melissa were reportedly dismissed from their jobs in March 2023.

Melissa Kohberger, Bryan’s other sister, worked as a mental health therapist in New Jersey. In one of MaryAnn’s letters to the Pocono Record, she shared a poignant poem by Melissa, reflecting on the horrific Uvalde Elementary School shooting.

The Kohberger family continues to grapple with the aftermath of Bryan’s arrest and the upcoming trial. As Bryan’s court hearings commence, it remains to be seen what the future holds for them.
