‘The Story of My Number’: Gracie Cashman Set to Deliver Unseen Aspects of Athletes Lives’

Sports'The Story of My Number': Gracie Cashman Set to Deliver Unseen Aspects of Athletes Lives'

Born into Baseball Royalty

An inside perspective of the sports world is a unique vantage point few can claim, but 25-year-old Gracie Cashman falls into this exclusive category, courtesy of her father Brian Cashman’s lengthy tenure as Yankees General Manager. Since 1998, Brian Cashman has overseen the Joe Torre, Joe Girardi, and Aaron Boone eras, giving young Gracie a front-row seat to the proceedings.

Growing Up with Greats

In her early years, growing up around iconic names in the sporting circuit naturally sparked Gracie’s curiosity. As the older of two sisters, she was known for asking light-hearted and unconventional questions about the baseball stars around her, rather than focusing on their sporting prowess. Gracie’s interest was in the players’ personalities, pushing the boundaries of what’s expected from an inquisitive child.

Stepping into the Spotlight

Now, at 25, Gracie is set to bring a fresh perspective to the lives and careers of athletes as the host of YES App’s new interview series, “The Story of My Number”. Athletes are invited to delve into the stories behind prominent numbers in their lives, narrating unheard narratives and sharing a slice of their world.

Stellar Lineup for Season’s Outset

Premiering at Manhattan’s Paley Museum, the show will make its digital debut on the YES App and YES Network. Gracie hosts the maiden episode, featuring Aaron Boone and other greats such as Don Mattingly, Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia, Tino Martinez, and Nick Swisher. The series, officially sponsored by the New York Lottery, promises to captivate fans by highlighting both career triumphs and interesting tidbits of the stars’ off-field lives.

Boone’s Heartfelt Conversations

In the inaugural episode, Boone opens up about his heart surgeries, his walk-off home run against Boston’s Tim Wakefield in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, and his rich baseball lineage. Gracie brings a candid, insightful conversation with Boone about his health journey, providing fans a glimpse into the Yankees manager’s personal trials.

Tracing Her Own Path

Gracie is no rookie to the entertainment industry. She pursued a degree in Musical Theater from Northwestern University, performing in various productions before her graduation in 2021. Gracie was also the host of the upcoming baseball reality show, “The Tryout,” and showed off her interviewing skills before venturing into “The Story of My Number”.

Building on Unexplored Territories

The uniqueness of this new series lies in the unwrapped narratives that often get lost behind the athletes’ professional shine. Gracie aims to dig deeper into stories that have received little public attention or were perhaps overshadowed by highlights of their sporting careers. Moving new episodes will be released every Thursday on the YES App, providing a platform for fans to acquaint themselves with the more human side of their sporting idols.

With this job, Gracie Cashman is not just lending her name to the series but encapsulating the soul of the sport. Her empathy, understanding, and natural knack for storytelling bring alive the untold stories, making the unexplored narratives as compelling as the athletes’ public-image.
