Meet Nina Lopez-Corrado. She’s a graduate of Full Sail University and is big news in the world of TV direction. She finished her degree in 2007 and from then on, she’s made significant strides in the world of TV. Keep reading because we’re soon going to see her name in the credits of your most-liked TV series.
The Dawn of Nina’s Successful Journey
TV programs were always Nina’s thing. She spent hours lost in the stories and lives of her favorite characters. This love sparked a desire for a career in film and television. This aspiration led her to enrol in Full Sail University.
Post-graduation, Nina set her sights on Los Angeles. She got her start assisting Chris Long, a director/producer. Nina’s first job in the industry was on FX’s Dirt in 2007. Working on this program, she got a taste of the nitty-gritty stuff that happens behind the scenes.
Learning the Art of TV Production
Nina was lucky to work with Chris on multiple projects, one of them being ‘The Mentalist.’ This gave her a deep insight into television production. She went to department meetings, searched for the perfect film locations, and teamed up with editors. From the very beginning to the final mixing of an episode, she was present! During the fourth season of the show, she got to wear the hat of a producer and even directed an episode, ‘Byzantium.’
With her growing portfolio, Nina began to receive more job offers. She directed several episodes of ‘Supernatural’ and bagged credits for directing and producing ‘A Million Little Things.’
The Leap to HBO
Nina always saw HBO as the peak of TV production. After directing some episodes of ‘The Nevers,’ she got the opportunity she had been waiting for. She moved from the crime genre with ‘Perry Mason’ to the video game adaptation, ‘The Last of Us.’ Being part of this big project was a dream come true. She is currently busy preparing to direct an episode in its second season.
Looking Forward – Nina’s Dreams for the Future
Nina has already checked some significant boxes on her career list, but she’s far from done. She hopes to direct a whole TV series someday and experiment with feature films. Recently, she was inducted into Full Sail’s Hall of Fame, which she takes as a badge of honor and inspiration for others.
During the induction ceremony at Full Sail, Nina inspired students with her words of wisdom. She emphasized the importance of hard work and persistence, crediting these values for her success.
