Twisters Whirls its Way to Box Office Triumph

A Happiness Twister Hits Universal Studios

Universal Studios is basking in the rays of success. Their recent film, Twisters, created quite a stir at the box office. When most of us were expecting it to earn just around $50 million, Twisters proved everyone wrong. It soared high to collect a whopping $80.5 million. Ain’t that something? This proves Twisters is not just another film. It claimed the third spot in the year’s biggest openings, following Inside Out 2 and Dune: Part Two.

Glen Powell Takes Center Stage

The success of Twisters is not just a victory for Universal Studios. Glen Powell, the lead actor, is also soaking in the glory. After being recognized in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, this is Powell’s third big success. The movie business is buzzing about Powell’s rise as a top-tier star. Talk about making a name!

In the Face of Tough Competition

But, let’s not forget, Twisters isn’t alone in this race. Illumination’s Despicable Me 4 secured the second spot with an earning of $23.8 million. Its total earnings in North America have hit a cool $259.5 million, and it’s still going strong! Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 by Pixar is sitting pretty at the top with its extraordinary $600 million earnings. This definitely sets a high benchmark!

Twists and Turns at the Box Office

The box office had more surprises in store. Longlegs, a horror film by Neon, did remarkably well. It earned a good $11.7 million, showing a decline of only 48% in the second week. This is pretty unusual for a terror flick. Fly Me to the Moon, an Apple and Sony collaboration, had a steeper drop of 65%, making $3.3 million.

Other Earnings Worth Noting

A Quiet Place: Day One by Paramount bagged $6.1 million. Bad Boys: Ride or Die stayed steady, adding $2.6 million to their tally of $189.3 million. Bad Newz, a Bollywood film, did fairly well too, mopping up a bit more than a million bucks.

Not all films had a smooth run though. MaXXXine, part of the Maxine Minx trilogy, witnessed a 60% fall, to an $819k weekend. Even so, it stands as the highest-grossing film in the trilogy. More shocking was the comeback of The Bikeriders, earning 75% more and making $700k.

What Lies Ahead

We’re all excited for the next weekend, aren’t we? With Deadpool & Wolverine lined up for release, it’s going to be interesting to see how Twisters fare. Can it keep winning, or will it see a dip in earnings? We’re all on tenterhooks here! Box office results are always thrilling due to their unpredictability. So, let’s stay buckled up and keep our eyes peeled for the next twist in this thriller!

Will Twisters continue to amaze us, or will Deadpool & Wolverine steal its limelight? All we can do is sit and wait for the drama to unfold!
