Dune: Part One alone made $407.7 million in its theatre run. Its sequel even outdid that colossal figure, bringing in an amazing $714.4 million.
Despite the success, Villeneuve stays grounded. He puts his creative vision first before worrying about audience reaction. As he put it, “When I make a film, the first person I’m trying to please is me. I made the Dune movies for myself.”
Quentin’s Not-So-Favorite List
Tarantino’s not interested list doesn’t just include Dune. The distinguished director of Pulp Fiction isn’t rushing to watch FX’s new “Shōgun” series or Netflix’s “Ripley”. Tarantino explains, “There’s six or seven Ripley books, if you do one again, why are you doing the same one that they’ve done twice already? I saw Shōgun in the ’80s. I watched all 13 hours. I’m good. I don’t need to see that story again.”
